To complete the study, reports, periodicals, books, and papers were collected and analyzed. The results revealed the following:\n(1) In “Foreign language activities,” optional teaching materials compiled by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology have been utilized in the same way as compulsory textbooks, along with ICT equipment \n(2) Approximately one third of junior 'high school 1st year students who have experienced English education in their elementary schools say that they disliked the English lessons. \n(3) The above-mentioned optional teaching materials are closely related to authorized English textbooks for junior 'high school 1st year students. \n(4) Enjoyable English activities, mainly using games, cause the students to resist the formal academic learning introduced in their junior high school 1st year English classes. \n(5) Repetition employed in memorization needs some kind of device to encourage the learners to perform it.
