The purpose of this article is to examine 1) how to assess visual recognition difficulties in children with physical disabilities, and 2) how to provide educational support for such children based on these assessments. First, the author reviews assessment tasks in research reports concerning visual recognition difficulties in children with physical disabilities. Second, the nature of visual recognition functions that are measured in these assessment tasks is examined. Third, a case study is discussed from the viewpoint of the kinds of data in assessments that are useful for educational support of children with physical disabilities.
